Dear Colleague:

Eric J. Sacknoff, M.D. FACS

I am a urologist who has found practicing in Virginia to be one of the most satisfying decisions of my life.
| Allow me to introduce myself with a recent snapshot: |
| • |
1971-1974, General Surgery Residency; University of California Medical Center, San Francisco |
| • |
1974-1978, Urology Residency; Massachusetts General Hospital; Boston, MA. Fellowship, American Cancer Society |
| • |
1979-2006, President, Cambridge Urological Associates; Cambridge, MA. Asst. Clinical Professor, Urology, Harvard Medical School |
In 2006, I moved from the city of Boston, Massachusetts to Marion, Virginia. I elected to leave my five-physician practice, move to Smyth County, and assist the Hospital to develop a top-tier urology service. Providing urologic surgery and care, as well as sharing my knowledge of this specialty, in an area that is in tremendous need, continues to be professionally and personally satisfying.
In addition to my enthusiasm for urology, I have also found a pace which allows me to treat patients with the care they deserve; a quality of life with friends and acquaintances who share my interests and hobbies; and a 30% reduction in one’s cost of living. The fly fishing is terrific! And - best of all? I haven’t had to pay for parking in three years!
It’s amazing the little things that make up a great practice atmosphere.
Since August 1, 2009, a neighboring community has been without urology coverage. This is a huge opportunity to grow the services provided by Smyth Regional Urology. I would like to extend to you a personal invitation to explore this opportunity to practice urology in this bucolic region of the Commonwealth.
I appreciate this moment of your time to make you aware of the developments occurring in one of the most beautiful geographic areas near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Smyth Regional Urology is a hospital-based practice, located within walking distance of the hospital. The first year I was here the Hospital committed to more than $500,000 in capital investment in the urology surgery service. This is the kind of support you can expect.
If you find your interest is piqued by this opportunity, I encourage you to contact my friends, Robbie Colley, at 276-782-1241 (

Sincerely,

Eric J. Sacknoff, M.D., FACS
