January 2023 AUA Public Policy Council Update For MAS

From the Chair
MAAUA Chair 2020

In lieu of our standard monthly Public Policy Council update, we would like to encourage your Section to attend the 6th Annual Urology Advocacy Summit next month!

On February 27 – March 1, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC, join over 200 attendees for an opportunity to network with like-minded advocacy colleagues and to meet with your federal legislators in person.

We will kick off the event with our keynote speaker James Carville providing an insider look into the dynamics of the 118th Congress. Attendees will then spend Monday afternoon diving into the details of our legislative “asks” on Capitol Hill. This year’s agenda sessions include physician payment reform, expanding telehealth access, no-cost sharing PSA screenings for high-risk men, and bolstering the physician workforce by incentivizing practice in rural areas.

On Tuesday, you will head to Capitol Hill with your state’s delegation to meet with your lawmakers and their staff to discuss these issues. Using your voice, as a constituent, is what moves the needle in urologic advocacy.

Finally, continue to learn about advocacy priorities and top-of-mind urologic policy issues on Wednesday morning.

This year we are also pleased to offer a dedicated advocacy session for residents and fellow, 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for participation in the event, and two networking receptions: at the National Museum of the American Indian and on Capitol Hill.

We are so pleased to have each AUA Section represented on the AUA Summit agenda. We would also like to recognize your Section for having 31 members registered to attend this year’s event!
